Child & Teen Safety Policy
Effective and last updated: September 4, 2026.
Yapaa is for people aged 16 and older
A person must be at least 16 years old to create or use a Yapaa account. We use a private birth date to determine eligibility. Providing false age information or trying to bypass an age control violates our Terms of Service.
Privacy and safety by design
Yapaa's current protections include:
- accepted, mutual friendships rather than public follower relationships;
- no public answer feed and no public precise-location broadcasting;
- answer-to-reveal controls that require reciprocal participation;
- limited contact discovery using one-way hashes instead of raw address-book uploads;
- controls to remove a friend, block a person, and report content; and
- no advertising or behavioural-advertising profiles.
Zero tolerance for exploitation
Child sexual exploitation, grooming, sextortion, sexualized content involving minors, and attempts to create, obtain, share, or facilitate child sexual-abuse material are prohibited. We may remove content, restrict or terminate accounts, preserve relevant information, and make reports to competent authorities or child-safety organizations where required by law.
Report a safety concern
Use the report control on the relevant answer or account whenever possible. You can block a person to end mutual access immediately. If you cannot access the app, email safety@yapaa.co and include:
- the username or content involved;
- a clear description of the concern and why it may be harmful or illegal;
- where the content appeared and when, if known; and
- only the screenshots or other evidence needed for review.
Reports involving suspected exploitation or imminent harm receive elevated priority. A report does not notify the reported person.
Moderation decisions and appeals
We may remove content or warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate an account based on the severity, context, and history of a violation. To appeal an eligible decision, email safety@yapaa.co from your account email, identify the decision, and explain why it should be reconsidered.
Immediate danger
Yapaa is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services for their location or a trusted person nearby.
These protections operate alongside our Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy.
